Patient Stories
In the Words of Our PatientsThe Kay Medical Group is one of the busiest
cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgical teams in California, treating over 1,000 patients
per year for over three decades. It is these patients who are the real success story
behind the Kay Medical Group. Listen as some of them share their experiences in their own
words...

| "My doctor in Riverside directed me to the Kay Medical Group
and Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. My first thoughts were that other hospitals
nearby might be better suited for me geographically. But he said, no, with the type of
surgery required and the risk potential involved, the Kay Medical Group would be the most
desirable team to go to. When I got there and met the staff, it was like family right
from the beginning! And not only for myself but for my wife -- they were very comforting.
They were a great group of people who were interested in ME." |

"Since I was already acquainted with Dr. Estioko and the Kay
Medical Group, that was where I wanted to go. And there was no argument there. They have a
working contract with my HMO so it was no problem." |
| "In the beginning we were concerned that the insurance company
was going to come through quickly and agree to pay, but the Kay Medical Group was very
supportive and helpful. They did a real good job of taking care of all the
insurance." |

"In another hospital, they told me he was goig to die in a
couple of hours. I prayed or another hospital to accept him, for some doctor to be kind
enough to care for him. My doctor made some phone calls and he said, 'Good news, the Kay
Medical Group and Good Samaritan Hospital will take you. They are a big hospital with an
excellent group of cardiologists -- they will take care of your husband.' And they did. They
treat you like you're the only one, like you're special. At first I thought I was
dreaming! I thought, are they confused? Are they thinking that he's somebody important? My
prayers were answered! They were wonderful to him -- every doctor, every nurse, every
person in the hospital. It was like another world!" |
| "It couldn't have been done any better. The Kay Medical Group
and Good Samaritan Hospital worked so well together, they inter-related so nicely, and
that extended to their treatment of me. I had surgery 7 months ago, which is not that
long ago, and for the past 2 and a half months I've been playing racquetball whenever I
can!" |

"I just had my surgery 3 months ago and I'm back to work. And
I feel great -- I can leave work and go home and work around the house. I've got more
energy and much more endurance. In fact I feel better now than I did way before I had this
heart problem!" |
